It was a quick, engaging read, and I enjoyed it overall. However, I gave it a lower rating because I wasn’t a fan of the story’s content, despite how compelling the book was.

This one...wasn't it for me. As a mom and a former teacher, a lot of this gave me major ick. This story follows Eve, a high school math teacher whose husband (Nate) is a high school English teacher and a terrible husband. The story starts with her telling us how much she really can't stand him. It also follows Addie, a student at the school whom everyone is basically shunning because of a situation with a teacher the previous year that led to his resignation. Addie finds herself in both Eve's and her husband's classes and, of course, develops a crush on Nate. The story progresses from there with several twists, a few that were pretty predictable, one that really didn't make sense, and one that completely ruined the book for me. Given the nature of the plot, I expected some inappropriate relationship to be at play, but I dunno. This one didn't sit right. I am a big Freida fan, but this book left me feeling icky. It deals with grooming, pedophilia, inappropriate teacher/student relationships, etc. I honestly would have felt some sense of justice and okay with the book if it weren't for the epilogue. That ending dropped the rating down significantly for me. It was shocking and a great twist, but I also hated it. That's all I can really say without too many spoilers. The plot was fast-paced and interesting. It kept me guessing and wondering which direction the story would turn. I don't know if my morals can let me recommend this one, though.
