This is not a good book. The prose felt at a third grade reading level. Every character was just so intolerable. It got slightly intriguing for a few chapters before changing POVs & getting even worse than before. This twist was so ridiculously stupid that I was waiting to find out it was a dream. I can’t believe that would have been an improvement. Judging by the average rating, is this really good for contemporary fiction? Are they all this bad? Maybe I’m just not the target demographic. Anyway, back to epic fantasy for me!
