This was a book I WANTED to love more than I ACTUALLY loved it. The premise is intriguing — every 4 years, the remaining members of humanity have their memories wiped clean. This is thought to prevent war, hatred, and all manner of vile human behavior. However, the story's scale felt somehow very limited because of the self-imposed design of the story. This might be due to the fact that it's the first of a series, but it felt like there was very little monumental payoff for the price offered by the main characters. Overall, it was an okay read, but I wasn't overly impressed enough to consider re-reading it anytime soon.
