Like the other books in DCC, I finished this quickly and loved the audio performance. However, this may be one of my least favorite in the series so far. The book felt more like a bridge from one part of the real plot to another rather than its own standalone thing.I also noticed some more overtly political/preachy things than in any previous books. It’s clear that Dinniman is more confident that his audience wants to hear politically charged statements that feel related to current events (translation: why conservatives in America are racist bigots etc.).Still, I want to see what happens next. I like that the crawl has essentially expanded to impacting many people outside the dungeon. Hoping for a strong ending in books 9-10!
