Now, this is what I wanted. Conflicts, mysteries, and the lore of Middle Earth opening up fully. Knowing that the story isn't finished is what keeps it at 4 stars instead of 5. If it wasn't for other books calling my name, I would start The Return of the King right away.

I’m not sure this review will look much different from my review of The Fellowship of the Ring. Rob Inglis nailed it again. I was really interested to see how he would perform Gollum and I really loved it. This was recorded before the Peter Jackson films, so I was curious how similar it would be to Andy Serkis’ performance. The plot points don’t hit exactly the same as the movie, so I found myself extremely invested and on the edge of my seat. Sam is still my favorite character, just for the record. Gimli’s & Legolas’ friendship is almost as endearing as the movie’s interpretation. Onto book 3!
