I had some very mixed feelings about this book as I read it.
Honestly, if you can get through the inception of an intro, it’s pretty much smooth sailing from there. The book within a book aspect definitely worked better in the movie.
What worked better in the book, however, were the characters. I actually felt like I knew them by the end. While the movie was fun, humorous, & just better to be honest, I felt that I actually knew the characters much better by the end of the book.
The style felt like a cross between Narnia & Monty Python, which is the highest of compliments.
I would recommend this to anyone that likes fairy tales, fantasy, or classics. It’s just one of those books that everyone needs to read at some point.
