The recommendations of this book were correct; this is the best prose I’ve ever read. There were moments where a single line made my heart drop. I cannot give enough praise to Rothfuss on his ability to keep a reader engaged.
The pacing of the story varied, but it was obviously intended. The slow parts came together to make sense in the end. The small story arcs that seemed inconsequential became major plot points later on. I felt like I was putting together I wonderful puzzle by reading this book. It took everything in me to keep from cheering for the last 75 pages!
I didn’t care for the third person sections of Kvothe telling the story to the Chronicler, but they were so short that I didn’t have to push past them very often.
This was certainly just a part of an origin story & I’m eager to pick up A Wise Man’s Fear. This is certainly going to slip its way into my all time top ten list of books.
