I really wish I’d held off on reading era 2 until The Lost Metal was released. That ending! I can officially say I’m in love with these characters. Now, most of them are very static characters. Honestly, all of them probably are. An argument could be made for Marasi being dynamic, but she doesn’t really change as much as just achieves goals. It was nice to see the whole gang together for an adventure in this one. Wax, Wayne, Marasi, & Steris (along with some characters that may be spoilers for the first two books). But once again, the shining beacon of this book was Wayne; he feels like fantasy’s version of Holden Caulfield & I’m completely down for it! His little adventure when he’s on his own feel like short stories in & of themselves, almost in the vein of Tales of Ba Sing Se (for my ATLA fans out there). I can’t say much without spoiling it, but this one was quite a wild ride & it has me so excited for book 4!
