The best word to describe this one: fun!
I’m sure I would feel very different if I’d gone straight to this one from era 1, but after a little break from Scadrial, it was so nice to revisit these magic systems! The updates in technology over the 300 years made for such an interesting revelation for the metal-based abilities that I was intrigued by every move they made.
I don’t think I’ve ever laughed out loud at a book as much as this one as well. Wax & Wayne have a great chemistry & Marasi’s inability to reply to most of Wayne’s comments made for great comedic timing. I don’t really feel that attached to the characters yet, but that process has begun.
Was it perfect? No. Was it Sanderson’s best work? Not even close. Was it a fun ride that has me excited for the sequel? Absolutely!
