Let’s put aside the fact that this was the most physically beautiful book I’ve ever read.
Isles of the Emberdark really grew on me.
Part one was a bit of a chore. The flashbacks really threw off the pacing for me, but I’m not sure if there was a better way to have done it, except maybe just including Sixth of the Dusk in the beginning separately.
I found the world interesting but a little boring compared to most Cosmere works. But once Starling & her crew showed up, I was fully on board. It was like the Cosmere’s very own Firefly crew & I was eating it up!
The message was uplifting, the characters were a mixed bag but most fun, & the villain was delightfully hatable.
An intriguing look into the future of the Cosmere while being a really great time on its own! Solid four star read!
