I thought Dawnshard was a big improvement over Edgedance, but not for the reason most people do. I like Lift, contrary to popular opinion. However, Rysn is probably my favorite interlude character in the main series. I was pretty excited to see her get a novella of her own. Thaylen culture is one of the more interesting on Roshar, so I definitely loved the little bit of extra worldbuilding here. I also loved the entirely new culture (which reminded me of Mistborn’s Kandra) they introduced. Rysn & The Lopen we’re fantastic characters to explore & the plot of this one was engaging yet simple. It was everything I want from Stormlight novellas & it leaves me fully prepared to jump into Rhythm of War!
